Into Day

This is a collection of instrumental songs I created and recorded on two days in 2011. 918 and Sun Temple were recorded on January 21st. Window, Open, and Un were recorded on March 27th. The songs were made using my yamaha keyboard, fender stratocaster, and various effect pedals. When I made Window I had been working on some acoustic songs and my recording software was not working properly so I sat down at the keyboard in front of my window and played some things to calm down. That turned into making some interesting sounds by plugging the keys into my pedalboard. On Open, I was trying to copy the ethereal sounds that are so present in music by Sigur Ros and the song 23 Go In To End by John Frusciante. The inspiration behind 918 was a mixture of the ambient sounds that my friend Marre creates, and the reversed guitar sounds that John Frusciante often uses. When I took a break for lunch I heard some beats in my head, really basic bass lines and drums and that led to the basic track for Un, which I just improvised over with my strat through a wah pedal. When recording Sun Temple, I tuned my guitar to an obscure tuning that I don't remember now but was inspired by both The Tallest Man On Earth's tunings and Rodrigo y Gabriela's style of playing. I'm really proud of these songs and I hope you enjoy listening to them and maybe connect to something you hear or experience while doing so.

I’m singin’ with you
Singing in silence
Let’s sing into the years, like one
Singing in tune, together
A sound for no one
Let’s sing in tune, but now
It’s home
